Blue Buffalo Dog Food Recall
Voluntary Blue Buffalo Dog Food Recall has been recently done as a number of dogs has reportedly been ill after having eaten some of the dog food varieties sold by Buffalo. Specific lots of Blue Buffalo dogs were recalled:
- Large Breed Adult Chicken
- Basics Salmon-Dog
- Wilderness Chicken-Dog
The Blue Buffalo Dog Food Recall is apparently due to the increased levels of Vitamin D in the dog food. It is because of the number of cases of dogs becoming ill that Blue Buffalo made a voluntary recall of the above-mentioned dog food lots as nothing is more important to them than the well being of your pets. These products were believed to contain higher levels of Vitamin D than what was called for in their product specifications.
The recent Blue Buffalo Dog Food Recall came after a conclusion that there was a scheduling error by Blue Buffalo’s supplier in the production of Vitamin D supplement immediately prior to the ingredients for the Basics Salmon-Dog, Wilderness Chicken-Dog, and Large Breed Adult Dog. Blue Buffalo believes that some of the D vitamin supplements might have been carried over into their products, which resulted to higher Vitamin D content in the products than what was called for in the specifications.
Blue Buffalo Dog Food Recall was a necessary move to make for BLUE as the increased Vitamin D in the dog food products might cause potential sensitivity to a small percentage of the canines, although would not bring any serious health risks. The voluntary recall is part of Buffalo’s quality control as it has zero tolerance to non-compliance of its specifications.
With the recent recall, all products which had the questionable manufacturing dates have been required to be removed from the distributor’s shelves. The ONLY product code dates recalled were:
1. BLUE Large Breed Adult Chicken: 30 lbs – Dates: Best Used By: SEP 22 11 P, SEP 23 11 P, OCT 26 11 P
2. BLUE Basics Salmon-Dog: 11 lbs & 24 lbs – Dates: Best Used By: AUG2111B, AUG2211B
3. BLUE Wilderness Chicken-Dog: 4.5 lbs, 11 lbs & 24lbs – Dates: Best Used By: JUL1211B, JUL1311B, JUL2611Z, JUL2711Z, JUL2811Z
Any other dog food or cat food that does not have these code dates are not in any way affected by the Blue Buffalo Dog Food Recall as those do not have any Vitamin D issue. In fact, the new bags of Large Breed Adult Chicken, Wilderness Chicken (Dog), and Basics Salmon (Dog) are available on the shelves with the same consistency and quality as the specifications should suggest.
Typical symptoms that could indicate a dog’s adverse reaction to the Blue Buffalo Dog Food Recall product codes include excessive urination, excessive water intake, and could also be vomiting. Blue Buffalo made a commitment to reimburse any medical expenses related to the illness caused by the recalled product codes.
